The Dr.'s Thompson at Wellington's Byrd Memorial
The Dr.'s Thompson at Wellington's Byrd Memorial

On Tuesday, 30 September, leading American paleoclimatologists Lonnie Thompson and Ellen Mosley-Thomnpson visited Wellington assisted by grants from the New Zealand American Assocation and the US embassy.

During their visit to Wellington Lonnie Thompson gave a public talk at the US Embassy attended by climate specialists, and members of the public.

In the evening the two vistors were guests of honour at a function at the residence of the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy. The Thompsons gave an informal talk to New Zealand science counterparts and younger scientists who are all strongly interested and active in climate science.
