AMBASSADOR SCOTT BROWN TAKES THE OATH OF OFFICE

   In a Ceremony at the U.S. State Dept., alongside his daughter     Arianna, Scott Brown becomes Ambassador to N.Z. & Samoa.  

President Donald Trump nominated Scott P. Brown as United States Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa on April 21, 2017.  

The U.S. Senate confirmed Ambassador Gilbert’s appointment on December 12, 2014 and he was sworn in on June 16, 2017. 

Ambassador Brown presented his credentials in New Zealand to Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy on June 27 2017 and is yet to present his credentials in Samoa.  

Ambassador Brown  was formerly a Senator from Massachusetts; born on September 12, 1959, in Kittery, Maine.  

He graduated Wakefield High School, Wakefield, Mass., 1977.  

On attending the Massachusetts Army National Guard 1979-2014, he attained the rank of colonel, serving in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps; lawyer, private practice; Wrentham, Mass., selectman 1995-1998.

He became a member of the Massachusetts state house of representatives 1999-2004; and a member of the Massachusetts state senate 2004-2010.

Ambassador Brown was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in a special election on January 19, 2010, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Edward M. Kennedy, a seat subsequently held by appointed senator Paul G. Kirk, took the oath of office on February 4, 2010, and served from February 4, 2010, to January 3, 2013.

An unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 2012; he moved to New Hampshire, and was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate from that state in 2014.

Ambassador Brown is a graduate of Tufts University with a B.A. in 1981; and J.D. Boston College Law School in 1985.
